A master’s degree in Sports Administration and Leadership with specializations in Sports Management and Coaching & Leadership prepares students for careers in athletic administration, coaching, sport operations, and leadership roles within professional, collegiate, and community sports organizations.

The Sports Management and Coaching & Leadership specializations within the Sports Administration and Leadership master’s program provide students with a strong foundation in organizational strategy, team leadership, and sport operations. Through relevant coursework in areas such as sports psychology, communication, and leadership development—combined with hands-on opportunities like coaching graduate assistantships—students gain the skills and experience needed to thrive in coaching, athletic administration, and leadership roles across all levels of sport.

Sports Administration Specialization

The program balances theory and practice, providing a comprehensive understanding of business, socio-cultural, ethical, and legal aspects in sports environments. The curriculum integrates theoretical insights with hands-on experiences, site visits, and collaborative projects for practical and applicable skills in sport administration.

Coaching and Leadership Specialization

The Athletic Coaching and Leadership track is designed for individuals passionate about fostering excellence in athletic performance and cultivating effective leadership skills within sports organizations. Through a blend of theoretical and practical coursework, students will delve into coaching methodologies, leadership strategies, team dynamics, and sports psychology. Emphasis will be placed on developing effective communication, decision-making, and mentorship skills crucial for success in coaching and leadership roles.

Career Success

In the last 5 years 14.1% of graduating students are coaching at the collegiate level. In the sports management many have obtained jobs as program directors, athletic directors, coaches, general managers, compliance directors.
