Fall 2024 Move-in: Aug. 23-25

New student move-in begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23.

Aug. 18 Arrivals

Schedule a check-in

Beginning July 22, please contact the Office of Residence Life at 605-626-3007 to schedule a time to check in on Aug. 23.  Check-in times will be available between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Aug. 23. 

Aug. 24-25 Arrivals

You may check in directly at your residence hall between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 24-25.  If you choose this option, please keep in mind that you will be responsible for unloading your belongings and moving them to your room. 

Early Arrivals

If you wish to check in earlier than Aug. 23, please complete the Request for Early Arrival Form.  

New Student Move-In Schedule Aug. 23, 2024

Check in: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Barnett Center

The check-in process begins in the Barnett Center parking lot. Your family is welcome to accompany you. You'll receive a move-in packet and be assigned a parking spot at your residence hall.

Drive to Residence Hall and Unload

At your residence hall, Northern's Unpacking the Pack Crew will help you unload your vehicle and indicate when you may move your vehicle to make room for the next student.

Unpack and Make Yourself at Home

Once you've unloaded your belongings, the excitement ramps up as you meet your hall staff, arrange your room, put up your loft if you have rented one, and start making friends with your fellow residents!

Attend the 4 p.m. New Student Convocation

At 4 p.m., the New Student Convocation begins with a welcome session in the Johnson Fine Arts Center's Jewett Theater.
