Bea Smith, who leads the Northern Innovation and Startup Center at Northern State University, is among this year’s Prairie Business 40 Under 40 honorees. The award highlights professionals making notable contributions to their organizations and communities.

Smith drives innovation and entrepreneurship in Aberdeen, supporting local businesses through her work at the Northern Innovation and Startup Center. Previously, she served as director of member services and events at Sanford Aberdeen, raising over $78,520 for the Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon and facilitating health outreach programs. During her tenure at the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce, she organized major events, recruited businesses, and secured sponsorships for community initiatives.

Smith’s career also includes roles as an admissions counselor at Northern State University and entertainment assistant at Deadwood Mountain Grand. Her skills in building relationships and managing events have had a lasting impact throughout her career.
