ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University School of Business Dean Dr. Tim Mantz has recently had a paper accepted into the International Academy of Business and Economics Journal’s “European Journal of Management.”

The paper was written with Dr. Szilvia Balazs, Dr. Daniel G.J. Kuchinka and Dr. David Bracken of Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and is entitled “Creating an Innovative Workplace: Effects of Humor Style and Supervisor Support.”

The paper was written about their research study on the relationship between “humor style and supervisor support for humor and individual innovativeness in the workplace,” according to the project abstract.

The research was based on the sample of 114 employees from different industries. Their research indicated that “the most powerful predictors for Individual Innovativeness were a Self-Enhancing humor style and Supervisor Support, which is perhaps the most important finding of the present study.”

Mantz was appointed as dean of the School of Business this past June. He most recently served as dean of the Graduate College of Business and associate dean of the Graduate School at Keiser University.

Mantz has more than 20 years of experience on Madison Avenue creating award-winning advertising for Fortune 250 companies, and extensive volunteer work with national programs to improve at-risk student retention and performance.
