ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Dr. Nuurrianti Jalli has published a policy paper with the world-renowned public policy organization, the Brookings Institution.
The paper, titled “Disinformation and Democracy in Malaysia,” was part of the Foreign Policy Democracy in Asia project, a collaborative effort by Jalli and fellow policy experts from around the world.
Jalli also attended a related conference at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., in December. Watch a video of her conference discussion here.
Jalli, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies, joined the NSU faculty in 2021. She is currently the academic coordinator for Northern’s public relations minor in the department of English, Communication, and Global Languages.
Originally from Malaysia, Jalli received her Ph.D. in mass communication from Ohio University. Her research areas range from mis/disinformation, computational propaganda, media information literacy, to media and democracy in Southeast Asia. Besides the Brookings Institution, she has also served as a resource person for agencies including the United Nations, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and DoubleThink Lab, among others.
