ABERDEEN, S.D. – The reception for Levi Seefeldt’s senior art exhibition will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 19 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center lobby.

The exhibition will be on display for two weeks, April 10-21. Seefeldt will be showing photography, digital illustration and a few mixed media pieces. All of the work will be some version of a self-portrait or self-representation, as it is research for his honors thesis.

Seefeldt, the son of Todd and Kim Seefeldt, grew up in Clark, graduating from Clark High School in 2012.

Seefeldt will graduate this spring with a bachelor’s degree in art with an advertising design specialization, minors in music and in entrepreneurial studies, and an arts administration certificate.

While at Northern, he has primarily studied with Sara Christensen Blair and Dr. Greg Blair.

“I chose Northern because I really loved that I was able to get such a high-quality education at a smaller institution. Coming from a small town, I really hated the idea of going to a bigger university and getting lost in the mass of students,” Seefeldt said. “The opportunity to have a one-on-one education was extremely appealing. Also, being on a smaller campus allowed me to explore all of my interests without having to sacrifice one over another. Even though I’m a graphic designer, I still have interests in music and business and sociology, and I’m free to explore those here.”

After graduation, Seefeldt plans to move to Minneapolis to work in an arts organization for a year or two before attending graduate school. He plans to get his master’s in art history and in public administration.

“The end goal is really just to spread an appreciation for the arts throughout the Midwest and make stuff that I enjoy,” he said.
