ABERDEEN, S.D. (May 5, 2017)  Dr. Courtney Waid-Lindberg is the recipient of the 2017 Nora Staael Evert Research Award at Northern State University.

The Nora Staael Evert Research Award, funded through a Northern State University Foundation grant, provides a summer stipend to support faculty engaged in scholarly research projects.

Waid-Lindberg, assistant professor of sociology, won for her project, titled, “Understanding the Needs of Victim Advocate Service Providers in South Dakota.”

Waid-Lindberg, who grew up in Richmond, Va., has been teaching at Northern since 2013. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Kentucky, her master’s degree in criminal justice at the University of Alabama and her Ph.D. in criminology and criminal justice at Florida State University.
