What is your favorite thing to do in Aberdeen?

My favorite thing to do in Aberdeen is hang out with my friends on campus or just drive around and have a good time. As long as there's good company, I'm there.

My favorite thing about NSU is...

My favorite things about NSU are the friends that I've made here and the psychology program. I've enjoyed finding people that feel like home here and finding a program that feels so warm and inviting. I've never felt like more people are rooting for me.

Other people would describe me as...

Other people would probably describe me as a very loyal person. I am loyal to my beliefs as well as those I hold close to me.

Why did you choose Northern?

I chose Northern because of the community I felt on campus and the amazing vibes I felt from Doctor Scott. She was an incredibly important part of me choosing Northern. She made the program feel like it would challenge me and make me think, but ultimately get me to the place I want to be starting my career.

The person I look up to most is...

The person I look up to most is my mom. She is probably the strongest person I know. She raised two kids by herself and kept living her life. She sacrificed so much free time and energy to raise us and support our passions.

When I'm not working, I am...

Probably working out, studying, or crocheting. I like to be creative and I love the adrenaline rush after a workout.

What has been your biggest achievement in life so far?

My biggest achievement in life so far is making it this far.

Favorite class that you have taken here?

Since I'm a freshman, I haven't taken too many classes, but I've loved my Psych 101 class. Every time I go, I feel like the class is a learning environment that makes me question things around me while taking into account the information we are learning.

One of my bucket list items is...

I want to take a trip to Europe. I want to see Portugal since I'm half Portuguese.

I could not live without...

I could not live without music. I use music to feel more at home in unfamiliar places and calm my nerves if I start to get anxious.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher like my mom. I had planned out my theme for my classroom too, but as I grew up, I realized that I wanted to understand people and who they are at their core; this drove me into psychology.

A motto I live by is...

I live by the motto that life is worth living. I believe that even though I am in school, I still need to be a kid. Along with studying and class, I need to hang out with my friends and be spontaneous.

A favorite memory with my friends on campus:

I loved having a night where we celebrated my friend's birthday. We got her an ice cream cake and sang to her in the lobby of Great Plains East. We all got a lot closer that night and had so much fun. We played foosball and talked for hours.

Tell me about a cool opportunity you've had at NSU:

A cool opportunity I've had at NSU is being able to walk-on to the track team. I wanted to throw in school and didn't really care about a scholarship, so I loved having the opportunity to continue my passion in throwing.

My best piece of advice for students considering NSU is...

I think NSU is a great place for all kinds of people. There seems to be a demographic everyone can fit into. If you want a place that feels like a community and a town that is a perfect size for college kids, then definitely apply. It never feels like people don't want you here on campus. Everyone is included all the time no matter what year you are, and it really is a great place.

Tell me a story about your favorite on-campus activity:

My favorite on-campus activity has been eating with my friends. I have had a lot of good lunches and dinners full of laughter and bonding. There is never a dull meal. I usually get to go after practice and with my teammates which is great because I get to spend time with other parts of the team and not just the throwers.
