  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Jennifer Rogers’ art exhibition titled “Saccharine” will be on display in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery from Sept. 11 to Nov. 10.

    Rogers is a multi-media installation artist from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her installations are inspired by domestic spaces, natural patterns and complex compositional arrangements and have been exhibited all over the U.S.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Art Department will sponsor the Fandom Dakota Convention (FANDAKCON) in the Student Center on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    FANDAKCON is comprised of a group of individuals who are passionate about various genres of pop-culture fandoms, such as comics, anime, steampunk, science fiction, gaming and many more areas of interest - joining forces and creating a memorable event for our community.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Julie Harboe of Zurich, Switzerland, will visit the Northern State University Art Department as part of its Visiting Scholar Series.

    The Danish/Swiss art historian, curator and critic Julie Harboe will visit the Northern State University Art Department as part of its Visiting Scholar Series.

    Harboe will arrive on Sept. 7 and spend 10 days on campus, working with the various art classes. She will be a part of several hands-on workshops and presentations during her visit.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University School of Business Dean Dr. Tim Mantz has recently had a paper accepted into the International Academy of Business and Economics Journal’s “European Journal of Management.”

    The paper was written with Dr. Szilvia Balazs, Dr. Daniel G.J. Kuchinka and Dr. David Bracken of Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and is entitled “Creating an Innovative Workplace: Effects of Humor Style and Supervisor Support.”

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University School of Business student Shanae Doerr of Aberdeen will attend an exclusive Leadership Training Summit from Sept. 15 to 18 at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.

    Doerr, representing NSU, will join 40 young American and Chinese leaders from across the country, where they will explore and discuss U.S.-China relations.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Theater Department will hold auditions for “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” community choir on Sunday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is a new musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo and the songs from the Disney animated feature.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. (Aug. 18, 2017) – Northern State University’s first Wolf Talk of the 2017-18 academic year will be held Sunday, Aug. 20, featuring NSU’s 2017 Outstanding Faculty Member Dr. Courtney Waid-Lindberg.

    Wolf Talks, which launched last year, is a leadership series featuring speakers from on and off campus. Waid-Lindberg’s talk will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Blue Room of the Johnson Fine Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University has received a grant to purchase a piece of equipment that will enhance research and science education on campus.

    The nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer will be purchased thanks to a $52,991 Research and Development Innovation Grant from the South Dakota Board of Regents. The grant covers half the cost of the machine, with the other half paid through matching funds.

    “It’s huge for us,” said NSU Associate Professor of Chemistry Dr. George Nora. “It opens doors in a number of angles.”
