  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Four Northern State University students presented at the annual South Dakota Academy of Science meeting at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell on March 31 and April 1.

    Joseph Keryakos of Jezzine, Lebanon, received a second place award for his poster presentation titled “Genes and health and their linkage to tooth decay and cavities.” Keryakos was mentored by Dr. Alyssa Kiesow.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Two Northern State University Speech and Debate team members received awards at the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament in Boise, Idaho.

    NSU students Hannah Higdon of Dupree and Jacob Sigurdson of Clear Lake, sophomores, were semifinalists in the nation in Junior Parliamentary Debate. Both students received the prestigious Excellence in Speaking Award.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its two new residence halls at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 20.

    The ceremony will take place at the location of one of the planned residence halls, south of the Mewaldt-Jensen Building on the NSU campus.

    This new hall will provide a “pod” style design, with eight to 10 traditional double rooms situated around a common living space and community bathroom. The other hall, which will be built where Lindberg Hall currently sits, will be designed with a series of semi-suites and suites… more

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The reception for Levi Seefeldt’s senior art exhibition will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 19 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center lobby.

    The exhibition will be on display for two weeks, April 10-21. Seefeldt will be showing photography, digital illustration and a few mixed media pieces. All of the work will be some version of a self-portrait or self-representation, as it is research for his honors thesis.

    Seefeldt, the son of Todd and Kim Seefeldt, grew up in Clark, graduating from Clark High School in 2012.

    COLLEGEpalooza is a back-to-school celebration for Northern State University and Presentation College students. Events will begin at 4 p.m. in downtown Aberdeen.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Quinn Determan’s senior art exhibition will be on display in the Northern State University Student Center Gallery from April 10 until April 21.

    A reception for the exhibition will take place from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 in the Student Center Gallery.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Lexy Premus’ senior art exhibition will be on display in the Northern State University Faculty Gallery from April 10 until April 21.

    A reception for the exhibition will take place from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the Faculty Gallery.

    Premus grew up in Groton, graduating from Groton Area High School in 2013. She is the daughter of John and Janet Premus of Groton.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. Owen Fink, a sixth-grader from Bridgewater-Emery School, took top honors at the 2017 South Dakota National Geographic Bee held today at Northern State University in Aberdeen. This is Owen’s second year as state champion.

    The state champion will receive $100, the National Geographic Concise Atlas of the World, 4th Edition and a trip to Washington, D.C., to represent South Dakota in the National Geographic Bee Championship to be held at National Geographic Society headquarters, May 14-17, 2017.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University choirs will come together for “A Celebration of American Music” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen.
